The Establishment of the Cherkin Preston Foundation
In June 2006, Roberta Cherkin and Michael Preston visited Kenya on a safari. The country’s beauty, spirit and people captivated them. After discussions with their Safari Director, they decided to return to Kenya to see how they might help. Roberta and Michael decided to focus on making a meaningful contribution to the poor, remote agricultural village of Mbumbuni, Kenya. The best way to carry this out was to establish the Cherkin Preston Foundation.
